A old time trick that we used to do to remove the end of a axle like that was to use the good old stick (arc) welder to stick the rod to the end of the stub and then pull it out with the rod.

If you have a large neodymium magnet, it may work as well.

See if you can jiggle it in place.

I went over and helped get the axle out and brought over a stock axle so he could get it running.

Yes, what normally happens is the diff breaks & then the axle goes when the diff internals lock up. That's why I suggested dropping the diff anyway to begin with.
I think someone mentioned that already :whistle:

I’ve never done axles before and it shows. Next time would be much quicker 😂
Especially because next time I’d replace them before they break now knowing it is this difficult to get it out of the diff. If that is even any good

That's what I did b4 I broke them, when I started cutting low 1.4's 60' with a best of 1.41 I knew it was a matter of time b4 I broke 1, & I think the 3.09 takes stress off the the drive line & axles too by moving these heavy cars a little easier. Food for thought.

That is correct. I didn’t start watching YouTube until I tore into and decided hmm. There is not much for videos tho I will say.

I’ve think I decided no more power until I get take out figured out. So if that’s 15in conversion, 3.09 and taller tire or what. No more power until I consistently cut 1.4s

FYI - on the old HC forum there's a 2.62 out of R/E 1500 miles $250 + ship & stock HC axles $420 shipped, 4sale, if you need or interested.
