FYI - on the old HC forum there's a 2.62 out of R/E 1500 miles $250 + ship & stock HC axles $420 shipped, 4sale, if you need or interested.

I’ll take a look. Not interested in stock axles as I don’t want to deal with a broken axle in side of the diff again. But if the diff is bad may be a cheap fix.

So my tips for anyone who has not done axles on a car.
Obviously disconnect everything. Sway bar link, control arms, trailing arms. Take the caliper off as well. I zip tied it up so it didn't dangle.
There's a 12mm bolt with a nut on the end. Take this out!!! I saw a video online and they said they didn't have to do it. Well that was my hold up all morning and my struggle once I took that out came right out.
If you end up taking the hub off I had to hit it with a rubber hammer.
Don't pry against the axle. I didn't know it but new axles don't come with that end piece.
A screw driver was enough to pop it out of the diff.
After doing the driver side and struggling the passenger side only took me just over a half hour.

How did the washer/shim look on passenger side? You may want to post a pic of it. Don't remember what it is there for but you need to replace it

It was in good shape. But I don't think it does much I'll post the pic I think I have it on my phone. Joe told me not to worry to much about it when I showed it to him.
Did yours not have it on there?

I'm sure it did but we were not prying at that end so they would not have been damaged

Been a long time since I did this, and it was on an 2009 R/T but I don't remember it being that bad. Did it at my buddy's shop.

A8 axles breaking is pretty rare but wheel hop will kill stuff.

I didn’t use it my cousin have it to me to use.
so I did end up watching your video later on. The one or two other videos I found said they didn’t move the 12mm nut on the hub. I watched your video and decided to remove it. Came right off 😂
O well I learn my lessons the hard way now I know. I got the passenger side out in a half hour. Not hard at all once I knew what was going on.

I used to be ocd with my garage. It has got away from me this year. It makes me sick to see. I used to spend Friday nights cleaning tools and arranging them. Well now. Well @vortecd knows it’s a disaster. I ran out of room which doesn’t help and it has gone down hill from there

My buddy snapped an axle in his M6, same exact place yours is. His diff survived. FWIW.

There have been enough broken axles but there are no videos on how to get it out. Jon said a rod would have to be no more then .25 to fit in there to try to tap it out from the other side
