Maybe Jon should change clutches now while he's there & see if Ford clutches work, for us in the future.;)

Yeah , would be nice if someone sold clutches for these diffs for when they start single tracking on burnouts.
I would not consider changing the clutches at this stage unless you were 100% sure it was slipping. It would take a lot to wear out the clutches. Do they make a spool for race only cars?

Depends on how many miles he has on it now & how much racing he does ?

I don't know ?
Ford makes the 8.8 (Sterling axle), but there are aftermarket units you can get to replace the factory diff (Eaton, Auburn, and few others), as well as various levels of aggressiveness in each of the aftermarket ones.

Pretty easy to burn up the LSD clutches actually. If one tire hangs up on the track and you get a one wheel peel a few times will kill the clutches from what I've seen. It's one of the reasons I went to the Burnbox HC line lock rather than trying to hold the brake during burnouts.

Yeah study your pics closely, because to me it looks like shim on each side ?
post 229 pic looks like the shim and races from both sides so I also think one goes on each side. Looks at the pics and compare each shim and you should be able to figure out where each went.

You also may need to borrow that tool for the c clip (I don't know what the exact name is for it) to get it back in

That's why it came flying out when he was taking it out because the c clip unloaded I guess.
may be able to position it so when the other half of housing is put on & tightened down it will compress.

and post 238 you can see the shim under the c clip.

call dealer or as mentioned b4 find a rear end shop in your area & take them to see if they can be matched up.

we used to change the clutches in the 8.8 once in awhile just because it was easy and the kit was $50

If Jon tries to do clutches, he should video it while he's taking them out to know exactly how they go back.
