While pinning the crank......

[2017 Redline HC]

After pinning my crank I was cleaning up the under carriage before putting the belly pans on. I looked over by the starter and noticed that there was an M5 nut missing on a stud that has the heat shield connected to it. I have a feeling when my cat’s were replaced ,during the recall, they had removed the starter and forgot to put the nut on. My question is; was there anything else supposed to be under the nut when I replace it. Of course I dont have an M5 nut laying around. Ordered an assorted kit of metric nuts.
It almost looks like the negative post but I see no cable....its an awful long stud if its only for the heat shield.

I have read the same,,,question Younger than I Par Guy. Just how far is Long Island? Can Street Out Laws have enough road to hold a competition?? Being from a part of the country. We have long roads and even a 7 mile bridge in the Keys. Just wondering. Ignorant to the fact of how far can you can spar till you run into the frigid water?? Snot being a usual smart ass, but just a wonder.

Yup Hickster, they can run up here. We have a barrier island just to our south. From Jones Beach to the west, to Gilgo Beach towards the east ( where all those dead hooker bodies have been found over the years) is a pretty straight run that goes for probably 12-15 miles. Midway through it narrows from 3 lanes to two in each direction. Large sections of the roadway were replaced after Hurricane Sandy caused the ocean to breach the island, crossing into the bay to the north. There are other areas as well.

Thanks HWDan, I find it strange that there isn’t a nut on there. I think I’ll put a nylon on and snug it up to stop an rattle.

Yea I married that nutt years ago. Younger dude than I. Thanks for clearing that up for me and a few others. Looks like a nice stretch of road. I am sure since Sandy, it is in pretty good shape, but with this weather. And time of year, can you drive your hot rod or just seasonalinly put it up?? Our season is just starting here. No chiller coolers, no extra 6 inter coolers. Today the weather was 74 but tomorrow night will be 46. Not bad but you still have to stay informed if you want to stay in touch with the car shows. Rain, no snow, every once in a while. Big difference in the seasons of driving in 900 miles.

I put the Roadrunner and Hellcat both up from the first snow until the spring. Hellcat does enjoy a longer season however, but as soon as summer tires come off, that’s pretty much it.

Us peoples down here were just wondering how youz guys dealt with a semi short season compaired to us down here whom could have. Pretty much a 10 t0 11 month season. No winter prep. mabe a concideration to the summer. Coolent. But this time of year,, it is purrfect

You guys sweat your balls off in the summer, we freeze ours off in the winter. Same thing I guess.

Well, there are ways to deal with both situations. When working in the snow in N and S Dakota, Kentucky, mountains of all over the south. 20 below zero and colder. You can always take clothing off but at 125 above Fer an hight not much you can do but die. I have worked on 12 story boilers going full blast wearing clothing that makes you sweat to keep you cool. Before Tommy Johns was invented by his good lukin sister. She is hot in a different way. If I was married, I wood get a divorce to try on clothes with her. The reason I made my pen an ce was with being in the A/C industry in Florida for 13 months of the year. I am tal kin heavy commercial and industrial , chillers, 24 story boilers, magnetic chillers, heat exchangers, cars, geo thermo, cooling towers. No way wasting time on Biedens $12 an hour solar panels. God bless the people that install those. Worked on the 1st in Dalton, Ga 1977 at a chemical plant that was paid for by the Regan administration. 55 gallon drums turned upside down and reversed when it rained. Computerized to follow the sun. Now days we need the pipe line like the one in Alaska I worked on. Back to hot and cold cars. Easier to implant newer and better inter coolers then attempting to keeping a rad i ator or block from freezing and tires are a big problem.
All I know is that strawberry season is here in Fl and a great crop this year. As big as your, well, fister. Enjoy with the whipper cream in the hot tub.

To replace the cats, the starter is not removed, there is no nut put on the stud for the heat shield, but it won't hurt to have one.
