What is your favorite tire brand?

Balanced four Toyo AT IIIs today.

Only two of them had the yellow marking to indicate the heavy spot, and didn't need them. And, almost as usual, the two with the most weight had the lowest road force numbers.

I was told that the dots don't mean anything anymore?

They still do. It's unfortunate that people either either don't know what they represent, or ignore them.

I didn't get my own tire machine and balancer because tire shops did such a great job.

I have the mostest awesomest tire dude! Shop is a dirty hole in the bad part of town that most people would drive past let alone go in but damn guys there know everything about mounting and balancing or fixing tires!! I now just keep tires in stock at my house then take them down to him whenever I need some mounted or balanced

The shop I go to is about the same. The main guy is a dirt track racer and loves to mount beadlocks. Been doing tires for 50 years.

He was the guy who told me that the dots are just production markings now.

Our tire supplier still uses the markings to align and mount the OEM tires and rims. The suppliers tire dude's station is right next to my machine shop and he spends break time "annoying" me He's a really cool dude!

I was out today, giving the Hurst SC/Rambler a little run time and checking things over. I checked the original spare tire, that is only 54 years old and there was no visible cracking, checking, discoloration and held air. I kept the original spare tire for show. The spare tire is a Goodyear Polyglas E70x14 red stripe.

There's a lot to be said for bias ply tires.

But I wouldn't want them on the 'Cat.

The goop is probably what's kept it from splitting.

Nope. But not being exposed to UV did.

Find me one tire manufacturer that doesn't say tire goop is bad for their tires. And, no, the ones in India, Kuala Lumpur, and similar places don't count. Those probably recommend using goop, so they can blame the poor tire quality on it.
