Interesting that even your pickup is doing its best to prevent you from idling.
How is that?

Your pickup was on high idle, in an effort not to idle. It knows better.

It is in high idle because it is not ready to run!

Really? Does the Furd manual say so, or is that your interpretation?

My vehicles sure seem to be ready to run once the engine does.

My engines last MUCH longer the frames/bodies. So, based on that, maybe I should drive off on a just started 14deg engine!!! :ROFLMAO:

You probably should, regardless of how long the frames and bodies last.

And what do you do if it's -14? Leave the engine idling for days?

My HC is in hibernation still. I hate the idea of the valvetrain sitting in one position for 5-6 months, but I also understand that it’s bad to start the motor and not get it good and hot. In the past, I’ve pulled the FP relay and turned it over with the key, but this sets a CEL. Yes, I know about the “flood mode” with the gas pedal, but I’m always worried it *might* not work and I’ll start a cold motor and it’ll rev to the moon. Bought one of these switched relays. Pop it into the starter relay slot, wheel it over 10-15 seconds…moves things around, flows the oil, no CEL.

Let's hope you'll never need a crate engine.

I get it. I’ve owned a few drag cars over the years and I always backed the rockers off in the off-season.

I had a lifter go at low miles on what’s supposed to be the updated lifter pins. Wild. Oil volume kill these engines due to the position of the lifters and the cam being up so high

Be sure to put a mark on the crank pulley to be sure that somehow the motor does not somehow stop in the same place as when you started. Anything less just would not satisfy the 6.2L OCD level of most of us on here. ;)
