Why? It still could be the same 6.2 with upgraded blower, e85, more aggressive tune and other goodies boosting Hp by a lot.

Could be, but I would expect the "HO" designation to be different...

For a build sheet, it's got to be useful, so if the description is precisely the same as before, the people pulling parts from inventory need to be able to distinguish engine A from B from C?

Right from Dodge Garage!

C30 Crate Engine: This new entry in the Hellephant lineup starts with an upgraded 376 cubic-inch cast-iron long block and features a 3.0L IHI supercharger with larger throttle body, stronger rods, pistons, upgraded hardware, and an improved valvetrain to produce approximately 900 horsepower on premium fuel, based on preliminary estimates

Are you saying this and the car#7 buildsheet "HO" engine are the same??

No, it's my opinion. I'm just saying, they have this technology. One thing we have to remember, it has to meet CARB for California. It does have something different for brakes, suspension and badging. I just don't know what it is.

I agree, it's a strong candidate given the scenario, but that buildsheet isn't helping.

I too would have thought something different for engine designation like that alcohol proof thing at 170.

Ok someone needs to do a deep dive back to the early Demon days. I am 95.72% sure that the pilot Demon cars did NOT have full vins. I -think- 55 were made. Maybe others can help with some digging on this. Without a full vin they were never going to be sold. If these 39 are the 7 car and are pure mules, why do they have full vins? I'm guessing they will be sold...Bigger question is, will more be built (or have others unknown to Sonny already been built)?

This sh!t is fun to me... I love the subterfuge!

EDIT/UPDATE:

After some quick digging looks like my number was right for the Pilot Demons...55 were made

still not 100% sure if those pilots had full vins. still digging...i do not think so tho...

post from PLMCRZY from the gekko boards from 9/22/2017....

55 Demon Pilot cars built. 21 consumer. More being built today. A totally moving target. My numbers and ResumeSpeed's will differ because of timing. My purpose was to give a general feel on how these were being built.

Apparently they will sell pilots. There are 2 Hellcats 22 model year with 6 speed transmissions that were sold to the public.

From another group "Had a buddy just pick up his 2022 1-1 frostbite blue, hellcat widebody 6-speed. 1 of 2 pilot cars so far that have made it into the wild of the 13 built in 2022. "

Yes...so long as it has a VIN it has the potential to be sold to the general public. most of these will be for crash, EPA and other testing...some will be media mule cars etc...

but yes some of these will eventually be sold (passed emissions and safety), others crushed and still others will be squirreled away. if it has a vin these will likely be the most valuable examples down the road...regardless, this will be the most valuable (modern) challenger ever made for sure...

since i confirmed that 55 demon mules were made...if we have 39 here that's 70%. therefore we will have 2348 #7 cars built!
