And my property taxes, including the special assessment for the community I live in are high as well.

How about 10G's for a 60 X100 lot and we're on the lower, middle end of prop taxes with a smaller than average square foot house. Average is @ 12- 15 k. We got upper end residences paying 20+ and real high end north shore and waterfront affluent at 20-40k.

Yeah.....let's just say that there weren't many aggressive nose down take-offs in that thing. It was cool to see it fly and watch some of the local flight testing. I was on a few flights in a Blackhawk where we were the chase aircraft for NOE testing that the Shadow was doing.
It was great working there, until the Berlin wall came down and military contracts took a dive for a few years.
My first CH and MH 53 flights were there, and I was hooked

7% in Indiana...had to pay additional tax when I brought car in to register AFTER Ohio got theirs....it's a racket.

Yup same here, got my cat from Detroit literally. Paid their 6%. Brought car back to have Mass hold their hand out saying we want Our 1/4 % more. the mass law stipulates that if vehicle is purchased from a state that has a lower tax rate, then you must pay difference.

This brings new meaning to why they call it the Commonwealth of Mass.

Also brings new meaning to FCA’s commercial ad imported from Detroit. Not sure how they can apply that being the case it was built over the border in Brampton Ontario.

In Illinois they have a law that allows cities of a certain size or higher to have the ability to pass taxes/spending etc without public input.

In the early 80's, they passed some tax and the city promptly responded by stripping the city hall of this power.
To this day, they are still fighting to get it back but the citizens keep flipping them the bird and voting no.

One of the few cool things about my town.

TrackDay nailed it though. We pay these taxes so that people who don't contribute to the tax pool can live wonderful lives. Become one of those people and reap the benefits.
