My racing days ended in76...now..very limited spirited driving..my cars with stock power..(and 3 with manual trans)..give me all I need...and if ya take a car that doesn't make a sound..and turns 9.1's every time out...I'd be bored as hell after the 4th pass......I can appreciate what the guys that race ICE do...EV guys..hell my mother could do that stuff...
Glad this thread came back today. Why the hell would anyone want a full electric vehicle from these jokers or anyone else? These idiots cannot even make a safe small hybrid safely! Let their stock drop to dig shit status. Hope they disappear forever.
Chrysler recalls 154,000 Jeep electric vehicles over 'risk of fire' while parked, driven
It's been downplayed by the LSM, but there have been a significant number of house fires caused by EV's in the garage or driveway getting flooded by salt water & catching fire in the days following the hurricane !! Some happened during the storm & the Fire Rescue units were not able to get trucks to the homes & they burned to the ground. Some families were barely able to escape with their pets.
If I won one of these POS vehicles, I'd drive it that day to Carmax & take whatever cash they'd offer for it !!
I doubt that walking/running while sitting down would help my knees much, if any.
But I have to admit that when coming across a VW EV lease for $59/mo. for three years I was tempted to get one. Turns out the offer was only good in Colorado, so I still haven't been able to prove how useless an EV would be for us.
But yesterdays power outage did remind me to fill the generator's tank, and to put an oil change on the to-do list.
At first I thought it was a misprint, a $59/mo.lease is quite affordable. Went on the dealer's website to check the details.
Then called.
With $2K down and for three years I thought what the heck let's do it. That's when I found out only Colorado residents qualify for a large chunk of the incentives. Oh well, I tried.
A week or two later I get another mass email, this time it was $35/mo. Never did call to find out if the terms were still the same. No matter what, they would've got the car back with very low miles on it since EVs really aren't usable here.
Would've worked for going up to the road and opening the gate, and for going to the post office, and even for taking the occasional 20 mile round trip to town I suppose, but would've also been one more vehicle sitting around for the very most part.
We use ours for all errands which are less than 100/125 miles from the house (depending on the weather). Over the last 2.5 years we have driven the EVs for 75,000 miles, no drama, now charge at home, easy peasy
Well, in our case the minimum distance for all but the local store is 70+ miles.
Apparently the id.4 gets some 206 miles on a charge, so that's cutting it close. Past close if going south due to the elevation changes. That leaves one town to the north that'd be within reach, maybe. It's not exactly flat between here and there either.
Plus, the real life drop in the winter is supposedly 30 to 50%. Yes, leasing one would be as a joke, just to prove the obvious, but to have to rely on that car wouldn't be a laughing matter.
