Hello everyone,

Back in January, my 2021 all-black TRX, which had about 22,500 miles, caught fire. The cause remains unknown-when a Mopar inspector examined the vehicle, he said it was impossible to determine what happened because it was completely destroyed. The following week, Stellantis sent a letter confirming they couldn’t identify the cause and stated they wouldn’t offer any compensation since no one was injured. However, the situation could have been much worse: about 10–12 minutes after we left the vehicle that night, it exploded. For context, we don’t smoke or drink and drive.

I haven’t spoken much about this until now, but after talking with a friend today, I learned that his neighbor in Florida also owned a TRX and tragically died when his truck caught fire in front of his house. Does anyone have more information about that incident? I’m now very hesitant about buying another RAM truck with a supercharger. I was considering a Challenger, but I’m concerned about the safety of the Hellcat as well. I haven’t made a decision yet.

Here are a few pics:

If anyone has similar experiences or advice, I’d appreciate hearing your stories. Has anyone else had issues like this recently?

Stay Safe out there. 1745848936871.png 1745848962177.png

I safety wire my main fuel line to the rail and the cross over to the rail as well. I’ve heard of a few blowing off so I took an extra step to make sure mine can’t.

Yep, the rumor was he burned his Hellcat for YouTube views. I always thought FamilyCruizin was creepy as hell. Almost a Jared from Subway kind of creepy vibe. I think he finally got arrested, but don't recall the specifics anymore.

How many members here actually know what is meant by "safety wiring"?
I know veterans will (at least those in maintenance).
Just a thought...

Affirmative on the Safety wiring, but I've got a few years on me. Common in aviation

I used to be able to quote the specs for each of the sizes, .020", .032" etc, gap allowances, etc. I've since forgotten the numbers, but I know good versus bad just by looking at it and the being able to visualize the twist rates etc.

Also recognizing wire that's been stretched by the cloudy appearance of the wire surface.

never heard of a MOPAR inspector, but the odds of any inspector in the corporate foodchain admitting to identification of a potential material defect, or manufactoring defect/error are about 1 in a billion

a real fire/arson investigator or insurance investigator might be more reliable. I'd expect the FD that extinguished it to have filed a report, that'd include an opinion on the ignition source/cause

y'all filed a complaint with DOT/USHTSA yet? shouldn't take more than a couple incidents to get an investigation started, especially where fatalities or injuries are involved

.032 was the standard for UH-1, AH-1, & OH-58.

Yes, he was a fire investigator/accident collision n investigator from Stellantis.
The insurance company sent theirs separately and finally towed the vehicle.
DOT/USHTS is already taken care of. They said if they hear more complaints then they will contact me.

You are right. They mentioned it don't take too many complaints to start investigation.

Had a dodge representative come out after my crash in my 16.
Downloaded all the information on the cars computer to try and find out what happened.

What was the coroner's findings?
What additional info did your friend provide?
What did the local news report on the incident?
Was the victim in their home or in their vehicle when it occurred?

questions ... questions ... questions
