Had some time today to make a bracket for the seats.
Started with 2”x18”x1/8” steel drilled to fit on the stock sliders.

as you can see the brackets overhang a lot, on the shelf added a 3”x18”x1/8” overhang for them to bolt to.

doing a test for height, had to lower the seat as I dont know where the bars will land yet, also helps me figure out placement of the th400 shifter finally

have to run the vacuum again. Todo: remove seat final time. Do final welds of the bars together. Paint them and final assembly.

Looking good! Fancy with the slider, I need to get one for my Kirkey. I didn’t know they allowed sliders. Where did you get that one from if you don’t mind me asking?

Who allows what? Its the stock slider from the passenger side.

It’s possible that a strict NHRA tech might have an issue with using a slider on a race seat. One of the things I have actually had them check is the required brace connecting the back of the seat to the roll cage. That will make the seat fixed. I can only find one picture where you can see it with my Kirkey.

100 % agree, rpm makes a product for this as they have to deal with this on cars that get the 10 point but retain stock seats.

in other news, i've been going every day teaching myself tig again and practicing. seems like every cage builder in Maryland is booked or doesn't want to work with me. I have four 20' sticks of 1-5/8” OD x.083 cm sitting in my back yard.

sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns, still pissed about the cage

Looking good! Overkill for a cage, I bet you could weld one up and get it carted no problem

That’s the ice box designed to fit in the trunk of a challenger. I would sell it and get a regular one, can put any basic one in the passenger seat and make some $$

Had a chance to get this all welded up and in the car. It ain’t easy. Had my weld settings all wrong and was struggling till I looked at the damn machine after getting cold welds. Had to redo them all… 🥲

I can't remember if you are Co2 or air assisted in shifting? Do you not touch the shifter at all during a pass. Those mounts are a beauty. I need to learn this skill and the more practice I put in the better I'll get.
