Best recommendation for fixing hairline cracks

You would think that the dealer is paying for the repair out of their own pocket! Dodge needs to crack down on these bullshit claim denials. You can look at a problem and tell wither it is customer damage or not. Maybe a damn gremlin took a pick axe and pecked at it till it cracked! useless B-tards. I wont ever buy one of their cars again. And it's all because of customer service. You hear that Dodge Cares? It would be nice if it did care!

I actually purchased the car out of town and had it delivered to me. I am 100% in agreement with you. I think to myself why do these dealers care about issues caused by the factory? Why do they always try to fight you with honoring the factory warranty? It is no cost out of there pocket and there employees get paid during the process. The damage looks like a screw may have overtightened during the factory installation. There is no mark or damage to indicate a heavy object was dropped on that plastic corner.

Call SRT and open a case. That will at least get the service manager's attention.

There is no possible way for that area to get damaged like that without leaving obvious damage elsewhere. I checked mine, there is no possible way for that spot to be stressed in any way to crack it like that, short of getting rear ended.

True story, reminds of a time way back in 87. I had an 85 5.0 Mustang GT. Factory ordered it myself back then so I could get the optional 3.08 gears.

Anyway, I didnt drive it much other than to the track and out of town trips and stuff like that. My friends brothers friend, a 16 year old kid just got a brand new 5.0 LX hatchback. Had it for a week or so. (This kids mother was also my mothers hairdresser).

They came to my door one day in a panic. He smacked it up against a curb doing burnouts or stuff like that and destroyed a wheel (same 15 inch alloys as mine). Knowing I didnt drive it all the time, they wanted to borrow one of my wheels so his parents wouldn't find out. No problem and we did just that.

Unknown to me, I found out a few weeks later that he brought it to the dealer to complain it pulled to one side. He did bend something in the front suspension. The knew what happened and just couldn't figure out how he did it without destroying a wheel.

Anyway they fixed it all UNDER WARRANTY. (except the wheel of course, he got that ordered through another buddies shop)

Funny I also heard he was pissed (not at me just situational) because, since I remove my wheels to clean the insides (like I still do), he ended having to do the same to make it look convincing enough with all 4 clean wheels.

Would warranty cover this? It’s only been a month since I’ve had the car now.

What ever you do...(unless you have experience in this kinda stuff)..don;t f*ck with this yourself...you could end up with a real mess...dealer..or good body shop...btw...any idea what happened???

What ever you do...(unless you have experience in this kinda stuff)..don;t f*ck with this yourself...you could end up with a real mess...dealer..or good body shop...btw...any idea what happened???

I have to go in on Wednesday and take some pictures. The manager at the dealership I bought it from, out of state, said this is a no brainer and the factory should fix it. I will open a claim on dodge if this problem persists. I will let you know what happens, once I get to the bottom of it.

LOL, I'd never do that now either (like now it would be you don't want the wife to find out ...).

He was good kid and he did hang with us wrenching on each others cars so I knew him well. Other than brake-dust, he did have 3 other brand new rims on the car for me to choose from if he wreaked another.

it’s always good to lend a hand when you can afford to. lending a wheel to a friend in his time of need says a lot about your character believe it or not. im sure we’ve all had bad experiences with lending our stuff in the past, trust goes a long way👌
