Turns out TPMS sensor was intact, tire was literally shredded inside, manager of 25+ years at this large tire facility never saw anything like this before. Man am I lucky I didn’t have a blow out at 175+. Moral of this story, NEVER assume something as critical as a tire problem, it could cost you dearly.
New Nitto 555GII’s went on this weekend.

That is crazy the way it is coming apart , you are so lucky you didn't have a blow out , it wouldn't have been much longer.
I guess when you do close to 200 often having 200 mph rated tires isn’t an option it’s a necessity!!

I guess when you do close to 200 often having 200 mph rated tires isn’t an option it’s a necessity!!

Don't forget that higher speeds (even on speed rated tires) require elevated pressures as well. Tirerack.com has an excellent document covering this.

Thanks, but Fronts are always around 36 psi cold, wasn’t a tire pressure issue, not on my watch at least

Ah, I see. Those are run flats. That extra body material must not have been balanced well or as noted manufacturing defect.

No doubt , at close to 200 , better have good brakes too.
