Never watch racing unless its offroad rally's or the like where death of the spectators is immanent, or at least the loss of a limb at minimum.
I also like the Isle of Man TT races

Only like to watch Drag Racing in person.

I watch a lot of the Nascar races. I record them and fast forward through a lot of them. I watch all the NHRA races also. There may be things or rules some don't like but it's racing and fun to watch.

He has money and a huge following, I’m guessing that’s why he’s in. He got nascar to change the rules and allow in car cameras so that they can provide him the content to post. He was at Daytona yesterday

Would be much more entertaining, but it's still mostly just going around an oval. More wrecks would make it more enjoyable to watch

Yup, nothing like the feel of a top fuel dragster leaving the line!!
I live about 30 miles from Summit Raceway Park in Norwalk, Ohio
I visit as often as I can

Just saw on the website that the 31st Hot Rod Power Tour ends in Norwalk on June 13th as the 5th stop

Cleetus bought his oval track before he bought 1/2 of the drag strip. He can drive or fly anything he gets his hands on, really talented guy.
He had some NASCAR legends out to his races and they saw the skill and the drive. Biffle hooked him up with RJR and they threw him into a car to see how he would do. First time in a car, he qualified first. During his qualifier, he ran an in car camera which was against the rules, so NASCAR put him on probation, and then changed the rules to allow their cameras to be used in car. On Saturday’s ARCA race, guess who NASCAR had on their YouTube livestream? Cleeter. There were 60k people watching the stream, and untold tens of thousands maybe hundreds of thousands tuned into Fox to watch him race Daytona. NASCAR sees a young talent with a huge following and they’ll make it work.
When I tuned in a little after noon they were showcasing the lady drivers in the race. I didn’t hear anything about Cleetus yet. Then when one of those chicks caused 2 wrecks, the second of which took out Cleetus… the live stream ended and I’m sure viewership on Fox dropped.
Because the qualifier for the race was rained out I think he started at 28. Within 5 laps he was up to 14.

For anyone that hasn’t been following him for a while, he is a champion airplane pilot for touch/go. He has won several jet boat races, was the first 7second GM Stick Shift Car, has won several major championships in drag racing, and almost won his debut in Stadium Super Truck. NASCAR can use him and he loves making left turns.

I wouldn’t promote him so hard if I didn’t really think that he and his crew were the best thing going. My brothers and I will all text when his latest videos drop and we almost watch them “together”. For some of his Cleet & Squirrel stuff, I’ve laughed to tears.
For the record, I think he pushed the “Cleetus” thing a little hard on the air for the NASCAR race… his people will know it’s a joke, not sure everyone else will.

Yeah, he’ll need to tone that back a bit if he wants to be taken seriously in the sport and not just a YouTuber that got put in there for exposure /nascar to make money (people will think that regardless of his skill). I do agree with most of what you said though. Ultimately will be good for the sport

I like low budget, real life people - those are the people I’ll support. Not people flaunting their money, reminds me of every other YouTuber kids watch play video games and get mansions to do stupid crap in. People making money from being good and winning in a sanctioned sport off sponsors is a bit different

He knows nascar can’t afford to not have cameras because it brings them exposure, so kudos to them to changing the rules. Also bad on him for being arrogant enough to purposefully brake them. He thought it was silly, so he didn’t follow it, and probably knew he would get them to cave. I’m sure the conversation behind closed doors was much less lighthearted than how it’s show to have gone.
