Is it going from a closed air box to an open air box?

I have a 2022 Challenger RE. Only considering a CAI for a louder whine. I've read about all the posts / threads there are on the cai, but haven't seen anything on what makes the whine louder. I'm guessing it's going from a closed air box to open?

And I'm thinking on a Redeye, getting a CAI for a louder whine, really won't produce that much more whine? Since the stock CAI is an open box.

Maybe someone who has actually done an aftermarket cai on a Redeye will chime in, but the only way I can imagine the aftermarket being louder on a Redeye would be if the filter element was less efficient. That meaning not as good at trapping airborne particles.

Stock redeye box is the best air box there is. No need to get aftermarket. Don’t do it

There’s a company that sells sound pipes that lets you pipe the air box to the inside of the car for noise 😂 or just drive with the windows down. My open air box JLT is quiet with the rain guard. Remove raid guard and it’s louder. Sealed redeye hood probably doesn’t make much of a difference. You’ll see hotter iat temps with an open air box. Just leave it or buy the whipple one

Curious. Have you compared iat’s with the rain guard on vs rain guard off?

Yes. Replaced my stock 2019 with a JTL, and is louder.
Had a legmaker on my 16, it was louder than the JTL on my 19
Is your 2019 a redeye?

If not - did the hellcat have a stock, open or closed CAI? I’m not sure what year the hellcat changed to an open air box.

Yes, a few degrees cooler when off and moving. Also seems to drop faster from idle to moving with it off They don’t insulate to the hood very well. I have the headlight intake covered (for now), and have the rain guard off full time, always when racing as well
Curious. Have you compared iat’s with the rain guard on vs rain guard off?

19 and later hellcat challengers are all open CAI.

That I don’t, I wasn’t aware 2019+ hellcat boxes were open, I just have a 15 hellcat.
Completely different than the 15 thru 18 closed box.
Still have the headlight intake, but box is open to the hood inlet (on driver's side).
