OH, window sticker showed up :)

WTF? Gas Guzzler? It is a Flex-fuel vehicle!

The government subsidizes the E-85 fuel cost. Because the Gas Guzzler law was written in 1978, they never imagined such a thing! They must have also used the E-85 fuel economy to calculate your fuel economy and thus the $3,700 penalty.

That's what I thought as well when they increased it $1,600 after production had started and none had been shipped. Total BS.

I'll go back and do the math but I think if you ordered a base 170 which had no stereo, no trunk liner, and only one cloth seat it came to $96,xxx. This was before a $12,000+ price increase that happened some time late August. All 170 window stickers reflect price increases.

I plan to write off the gg tax too. F em'

Also I've crossed the 300 mile mark and have started using more of the throttle. I've found the first potential issue.

On 93 octane at WOT the AFR is 9.7. That is ridiculously rich and wasn't even in COT. I'd consider 10.8 to 11.0 acceptable as a reference for a rich tune. Not sure if this is a miscalculation in the flex tuning or knock abatement on gasoline. Boost was 20ish psi which is A LOT on pump gasoline.

I need to get some logs to really see what's up but I wouldn't advise much WOT on gasoline based on what I've seen thus far.

I mean...the factory gave us 1025hp so I trust the calibration engineer isn't a potato...but damn son.

And 20ish psi? How much do they see on corn? Because based on that it doesn't seem like they're bleeding much boost off at all.

Saw one today in a dealer showroom, I did like the look with the wheel flairs in the rear only. I believe it had the CF wheels, sticker $133K (owners car, so not for sale, tho they indicated $300k might change his mind  ). Surprised at the huge # of wheel weights on both back wheels . It also had "Alcohol Injection" either engraved or a ghost sticker on the front (DS) of the hood scoop. Tried to get a pic, but it was very hard to see. Will post the pics I took tomorrow.

Surprisingly I don't think they used the electronic bypass as a variable in the flex tuning. Should have imo, but probably didn't have time to test and validate.

In other news, the chiller appears to work quite well.

I spent some time bantering back & forth with Barth on Facebook and he made the comment that despite the alcohol sensor in the rail it still references the "Inferred" tables as far as the tune is concerned. It just derives the percentage from the sensor as opposed to the widebands.

A couple toonahs were working on boost bleed for awhile but could never seem to get it 100% working all the time without side effects. Wonder if that's also what dodge found...and with the limited development cycle for this car...

I'll have to think on that and dissect the cars tune to form an opinion.

On the surface my first question would be why it would need to "infer" when it already knows for sure from the sensor.

Exactly my thought but if the tables and whatnot are essentially already there...it'd be a quick & dirty way to make it happen without having to completely change the PCM or validate an entirely new OS.

This single thing is what I'm most interested in with this car. Besides the rear diff.

Maybe that's why they kept blowing up engines--their in-house tuning was too rushed to do it right...?
I've lost count of how many aftermarket builds have successfully tuned for 1000+HP and are running reliably--w/o even beefing up internals as much as they did.

Barth was one of the vendors that was gonna get on board with Satera's flexfuel program. I wonder if he ever did cause infering is what is currently done now for a flex tune.

I would never run 93 octane in a Demon 170. What is the point? E85 is so much safer for one. But...... Not everyone has access to E85 I guess but shit for a TOY I would never run 93 in that no freaking way! Not to mention how much slower it is on 93.

I believe the Tool / Mold was etched
So that plastic part would be molded like that

Interchiller will drop them temps another 20-25 degrees maybe more with insulated lines. Had the same in my Redeye and upgraded to the Interchiller stage 2 with the upgraded intercooler pump. Made a huge difference.

Cortez makes an icebox for the Trackhawk that fits right under the hood in the engine bay to give extra coolant but I dont think they offer one for the Challenger.

@vortecd Confirmed, you could get a 170 for $96,666 if you ordered a base model and got in before August price increase. This is from my original order sheet before I added options. This assumed the dealer wasn't marking it to the moon of course.

I was never a big fan of the black hood, but that partial black hood on the Demon really does look good!

Closing in on 400 miles. Been driving it just about every day this week. Exercising the full rpm range has been.....fun. I'm still not running any license plate and had TWO police officers behind me today, one after I made a spirited run across an on ramp and back on to the side road playing with a Porsche.

Maybe they've been told not to engage in menial traffic stops now? Gotta be right?
