I've noticed since moving to Tennessee that after washing my cars the following day the disc rotors are covered with rust and they squeak like hell when I first move the car. What are you guys doing to avoid this. I never saw this in Arizona.

Thanks in advance.

After washing, I do a quick drive around the block and stomp on the brakes at least once or twice, getting the rotors hot enough to boil off any residual moisture.

I do the same. Wash, quick drive to get brakes clean and water out of all the nooks and crannies, then come back and give it a wipe down with a quick detailer.

I always blow dry with a leaf blower and that was good in AZ but here with the humidity, not so much.

Is this real or snake oil?
Works on my 03 truck. Rotors have never shown rust since installing.
it isn’t working on my new explorer tho. I may have to check a connection somewhere. Rotors on the explorer show rust. But the truck does now. My grandpa has it on his Jeep and those rotors do not rust either

Maybe the iron content in your TN water is higher than AZ, unless you’re running a hose off a water softener/conditioner.

Well the water is softer for sure but not sure about iron content.

If the iron content is high, anything you spray down with a hose might end up with a rusty looking residue on it.

Mine was really bad in Northern MN but I was also running off my own well. If the sprinkler hit my house (White siding) it would leave a rust looking residue on the outside. Bathtubs and stuff built up that orange look really quick until I installed a water conditioning system to handle all that.

Are you on city water or a well?

We get that here with shallow wells. Deep are great water.

See it every time I wash my car.
Just a flash rust.
As stated above, just drive it around the block.

Good ol humidity! When I moved to Michigan from Colorado there were different things on my car that started looking rusty that never did before. My car doesn't sit long so once it is driven after I wash it all better. If it rains when I'm at work they will even look rusty
