Woodward Dream Cruise - MSHS Event in Detroit

Depending on how the baby is we will 85 percent be there. I live on the west side of the state. About 3 hours from me.
If speedy is buying drinks I'll for sure make it

The 1st year of Roadkill nights was the end of the week before the Woodward cruise. Since then, Roadkill is the weekend before the Dream Cruise. Myself I would rather they do it the same weekend but since they started doing it I have been going to Roadkill instead of the Cruise. The big draw to the cruise was the Dodge display and Mustang alley but Dodge does their deal at Roadkill being they lost their displace location

So it has been awhile since I have been to the Cruise and would be worth going if members are going to come to it

I lived in Chicago for 1.5 years and drive to Kalamazoo about once a week. We drove over to Detoilet I call it, several times also. A good friend is in Elgin IL for a good stop over place. Doing this allows me a pass with the group at BIR so they won’t burn a tee-shirt in my memory in the fire on Saturday night.

I went to the first 1 in the 90 s
I remember my old man thinking I was nuts driving my car thru Detroit to see a few cars
Then the Detroit news stations interrupted the regular tv to show the cruise it was so big
Several news teams were flying overhead broadcasting live
The old man was watching it on TV
No one was predicting it to be so big

The next few years it got too big / busy to drive so I parked all day & drove at nite after all the trucks & minivans went home
Guys were drag racing, doing burnouts, open exhausts all the good shit
Then soon after the police started closing streets earlier every year
No burnouts allowed after the first few cruises
Like everything. It got so big all the rules & regulations put a damper on it for me
I haven t been for several years
Not sure what time they shut it down now on Saturday ?
Its more of an entire week cruise now

There are car shows up & down Woodward at various locations
Plus all the cars that either cruise woodward or just park on the roadside
At 1 time they started keeping all the show cars on the outside lanes so people could see them pass by

Last time I was out later they shut the roads down at 9. The last few times I went I was there early and gone mid afternoon. We would go park off of 9 mile walk the Mustang alley then drive to 12 mile and park. Walk close to 14 mile then walk back on the other side of the street and leave. Not only are there cars driving, both sides of the road are full of cars

I'm mainly coming to race at MSHS so this Woordward thing is just an extra for me. Do I need to come armed to the teeth to keep our cars from being stolen or ?

So is it racing Thursday and Friday with the Dream Cruise Saturday? They are showing the 18-20 so wasn't sure if they are racing Saturday

If you have never been to the Dream Cruise and are into cars it is something you need to see at least once

I'd recommend it. Insurance is much higher on that side of the state because of vehicle theft... I would hope if you stay at a hotel with others who are racing for the weekend they'd keep security up. Park close to the building and under lights.

I'm at the mercy of my crew chief and his schedule since he has the truck/trailer. We have this on the calendar though. If the weather ends up being 100° that's also a factor. August around here is miserable so hoping up there it's much nicer.

That's why I was wondering. You'd be spending a lot of time in Michigan if that was the case.
Maybe it is a good thing but we have all of a sudden been having extremely hot weather for us for this time of year. Hopefully, it is getting it out of its system.
Yesterday heat index was over 100 and humid.
