My buddy sold his 2012 Challenger and gave me his set of 20 Gorilla Black Wheel Locks P/N 96643BC 14mm x 1.5. They'd look really good on my stock Lowgloss Blk Wheels. And they seem to fit fine, same size as MOPAR OEM lugs. But I've heard stories about aftermarket lug nuts being a safety concern.
Anyone?
Attaching pics of Gorilla & MOPAR OEM.
Thanks!

The 2 piece stockers are known to swell and make removal difficult. The Gorillas are an upgrade, imo.

I would run them. I have to use different lug nuts for my Forgestar wheels since the stock ones are to big to fit

I’ve had Gorilla lugs on my car for a few thousand miles now, very happy with them so far.

My OEM lug nuts were starting to swell, so I replaced them before it got bad.

As long as the threads, cone taper and length are fine.....shouldn't be an issue.

Full send.

I'm equally fine with Gorilla and McGard.

I have the # 96643BDX on my cars, not sure what the difference is between the BC & BDX suffix (finish perhaps ?).

I have had them on both the Hellcat & Durango since new and they still look & work great !

Really? I've heard of 2-piece breaking, but never swelling.
Thanks for the info!

I haven't experienced any issues with aftermarket, the O.E. pieces on my 4 different Dodge vehicles have deformed/swelled in various ways or amounts, but not enough to prevent access.

As with any lug nut, properly seat, and then torque.

Gorilla does have a website with contact info, might be interesting to email them and ask.

yeah just keep a 22mm socket handy for swelling 21mm lugs and a 23mm socket for swelling 22mm lugs.

My older Magnum has been known to have the lugs spontaneously swell after having a dealer or tire shop use an impact gun on them.
I have solid Gorilla lugs on it now.

Ditch those OE chrome clad nuts. Worst idea, on the planet. They go back to 2005 and are worthless garbage.

Been running Gorilla, for 3 years, on my cat

Ran them, for 10 years, on my 6.1 Charger. Never any issues.

They do....it is....and I did:cool:
Here's the reply...

"Part# 96643BC has been discontinued for about 5-6 years and was replaced by part# 96643DX. The "DX" part is longer at 1.65" overall for compatibility with additional applications. "

Gorilla locking lugs on all my cars for last 10? years including 2 HC, and 2 392 challengers. never an issue. OEM lugs are one of the first things I change out
