I really don’t do anything with them (my Z26 street pads). If you bed them aggressively, I am sure they will work better for a few stops. Until you lightly stop a few times and those pads strip their residue off also.
If I keep the racing rotors on it is because the residue from the Hawk pads got ripped off in some cool down lap and I did not want to go through the trouble of changing back to my Brembo rotors because the track days are stacked close. I’ll slap them on and they seem fine. It always feels so much better (smooth, don’t grab so fast) to use them compared with the nasty race pads. I simply will not change back to any clean or street wheel unless my car is wearing the Z26 pads.
