Anyone planning on going to 131 Martin, Michigan this weekend August 27-30? I will be running the Hemi shootout on Saturday. Planning on doing TNT Thursday. Temps Thursday look to be 91 but 78 on Saturday
Skinnies are on and front sway bar removed. I had planned on running my new M/T Street R's but Nitto is paying $1,000 if you win your class and are using their 555RII tires. I put these tires on just for street driving and didn't know about the payout. I will be shooting for the 11 second class. Today expected DA will be 3000 and it is just a TNT so I wanna see how the Nitto's launch. I'm expecting 11.3-4. Now Saturday when the race will be run DA should be around 2000 mid to upper 70's. I'm thinking on installing my cat deletes and my full 3" exhaust tomorrow if I need to get closer to 11 flat
Thought it would be an open TNT but they called us by class. They started at 1:00 and my 1st pass was at 3:22. I eased into it and felt like it would take more but ran 11.25@122. My Kestrel said they DA was 3250 but other were showing over 4000. I'm going to treat this like a dyno and as long as I am just using mine I can see what the difference is in different DA. By the time they got through round 1 I figure it would be after 8:00 before I got my 2nd pass. I knew racers there from running the NMRA 20 years ago so I hung out and talked to a few. Well I got my second call at 6:40 so they were going through the classes much faster. I decided I was going to put it to the floor and see if it hooks, it did! 1st pass 1.70 60 ft 2nd 1.65 and went 11.08@124. DA per my Kestrel was 3350. Pretty happy to almost go 10's in over 3000 DA. Saturday DA should be closer to 2000 and we get 1 time run. Again I will hammer down and if it hooks should be a 10. I need to make 3 runs and try to average as close to 11 as possible to win the class. I think I have a chance
Not sure if the Nitto's will ever be used at the track again, they are my street tires. I have brand new M/T Street R's mounted on my 17" wheels. I bought them back in June so I could get the $50 rebate which I just received last week
So the people there taking photos go around to the racers with the pics they took to sell. So you don't have to go looking for them I guess. Saturday they came by and had the double image they were able to do since they were taken Thursday. The other in the winner circle was done Saturday. I asked them today if they had any other pics and they did have one from Saturday so I bought another. You have to run certain stickers on your car to race so you will see the bottom pic has the stickers on the car
My buddy about won true street. He ran a 8.97 on the 1st pass but he rolled through the beams on the 2nd pass and only went 12.74 but at 150mph. His 3rd run was a 9.02. The winner averaged 9.2 so if not for the roll which the car has never done, he had it
We were at the track a couple of weeks ago and he ran 7 passes in the 8's in 3000 DA. It is a '85 Mustang with a turbo coyote motor
Some of the cars that were parked by me
The 1st is Mr. Bounty Hunter. Alan has won the 13 second class 3 times this year and has collected $3,000 from Nitto. The red 1320 next to him is owned by Jeff which won the 12 second class
