I'll be needing some wheels for my Scat Pack, (Dynamics Pkg) winter set-up. In your opinions, are the OEM worth the extra coin over say, the Voxx, OE, etc.? Is the quality that much better? I've only had OEM wheels for my winter set-ups in the past.

From what I've seen, a fair deal on a used set of OEM can be had for about twice the cost of new aftermarkets.

Thanks.

Check the weight. Some aftermarket stuff is heavy.

For winter wheels only, I'd probably be ok with something cheap.

There are some good aftermarket reps out there. You could find a nice, new summer setup and use your OEM for winter, or find some good used OEM for winter.

+1 for aftermarket summer wheels (preferably with 10.5" or 11" wide rears) and use the OEM set for winter.

Does that extra inch width in the rear,(that doesn't sound quite right) make a real-world difference in the performance on street tires? I'll be running a UHP A/S-either Michelin, Continental, or maybe even the BFG.

Good point about the weight.

I use Factory Reproductions and I'm very happy with them. Yes the extra inch on each side makes a world of difference on a HC. I would imagine it would on a SP as well.

10.5 or 11" on the rear helps.
I bought 9" challenger Reps from Tire rack to use as winter only and theyve been through 4 winters on 2 cars and no problems.
Easy button is get the reps for winter with winter or A/S mounted on them already, use OEM for summer and you are done.

What I did was buy the reps for winter and then 2 11" MRR392 rims for the rear and use 2 OEMs for the front in summer.

If I could do it over, Id get a good summer set and use OEMs for winter.

275 is the widest you're supposed to go on a 9.5 wheel, which even on a SP isn't enough. I had 20x11 w/ 305s and it definitely hooked up a lot better. If you're going to invest in a complete set of new wheels anyway, why not spend a few dollars extra for some improved summer grip too? 20190628_171710.jpg

Looks great. Any rubbing issues?

If you don't mind, what is that wheel/tire package?

No rubbing at all. Wheels are Velgen VRF5, tires are Firestone Firehawk Indy 500

Front 20x9.5 +18 offset w/ 275/40/20
Rear 20x11 +22 offset w/ 305/35/20

315/35 would be exactly the same OD as 275/40, but the Indy 500 was only available in 305/35. It's only about 1% different, and I already had new 275 Indys on my OEM wheels when I got the Velgens, so I stuck with them. If I was buying all new tires I'd probably go with Continental DWS or Extreme Contact in 275/315 sizes.

10.5 PK Hallraiser is what I ran with the 305. Great improvement for the street. Selling them now.

Look into Factory Style Wheels. they have flow forged OE Repros around 25 lbs. I have a set of their Wide body reproductions. good quality and nice wheels.. I would buy them again.

Edit...Ignore me...I missed the winter set up..

As Piening2150 and AeroF16 suggested, I may use the OEM 9.5’s for winter and then buy the staggered Repros for the summer set-up.

Excellent recommendations, Gentlemen.

Darn it. You got me all enthused there, and I went on the site to look for wheels for a different application.

Okay, I liked what I saw, but not that they sell 5-lug wheels to go on 6-lug vehicles. Oh well.

That's what I would do. Michellin PS4s, 275 front with 315 in the rear (assuming suspension is stock.)

And PK will mount, balance, ship so you don't have to deal with a tire shop at all. I had them quote me a few times, pretty good prices for what you get.
