Predictive preventative maintenance?

Saw this in my Dodge app yesterday. Anyone know what this is based on? Are our cars tracking our driving habits?

My car has 9,600 miles on it. Why would I need brakes already? I actually happened to check pads recently and they all look good.

If they are, I'll never get that message. It's quite rare that I misjudge a curve enough to need to use the brakes.

Okay, full disclosure.

I'm too lazy and cheap to change brake components, on any vehicle, so I don't use them unless someone (or myself) screws up. Or, if for some reason, I need to come to a complete stop.

This is nothing more than a virtual service advisor who bullshits you with "recommended" services just same.

The bot probably isn't programmed to know you don't have sliders that might need lubing (but still too soon anyway), which is probably what it's hinting at.

Ah OK. Wasn't sure if there was any data actually backing these recommendations up or not. Similar to how the oil life monitor works. People have always said these cars collect a lot more data than we think.
