So let’s take the Grand Cherokee for example. Here are some of the issues I have to start:
- Engine Choices:
— Pentistat
— The 2L PHEV
— No Hemi
Then for shits and giggles, look at the price difference between the models. The V6 Summit starts at $65,000.
The Summit 4xe starts at $69,475. The Summit Reserve V6 starts at $68,940 while the Summit Reserve 4xe starts at $77,825. I’m sure the plug in hybrid gets better economy, and sure on paper the HP numbers aren’t bad. But that’s a lot of money for just the engine type.
Jeeps failure will be the same as Dodge, and Ram will follow behind that. We are being forced to purchase engine platforms that most never asked for. I’m fine with offering an EV or a hybrid, but don’t force it on me if I just want the Hemi. I love my TRX, and it’s going to be around for a long time. The issue I have is when the time comes to retire the TRX from daily driving activities, I’m going to have to look somewhere other than Ram/Dodge/Jeep because I don’t want to have to buy an EV. Maybe a 2 door Bronco will make a good daily driver in a few years?
