- 2017 Charger HC (once upon a time)
Yesterday was dropping off a vehicle for trans-replacement so I was driving the Red Eye. As I pull up to the shop (owned originally by a guy I went HS with, and then bought by one of his employees) there's a couple of teen or 20 year old guys coming out the door and getting in a car to the right of the roll up door I'm going to park in front of. On the left, there's a pick up truck parked, and on the other side of it, some guys my age standing around. As these older guys see the Challenger they all start looking acting like they're not really looking (and one was flat out gawking). As I pull into the spot, the young guy driving gets back out of the car and I hear, "Jesus Christ!" then a "god damn". He then says "What kind of tires are those" talking about the R888Rs on the rear. So we started talking about them and the car in general. While this is happening I notice the guys on the other side of the pick up truck having drifted as a group down to where they can see the car (the cab was dark tinted). Anyway, the young guy finishes up and says at the end, "seriously, that's a really nice car. You've done an amazing job with it." Always nice to hear.
The guys by the truck never came and said anything. I like to think I'm pretty approachable, but maybe I'm an asshole.
EDIT: Also in that visit we grabbed a 13mm socket and adjusted those Trackhawk tips on the Red Eye. Still have to say I like them much better than the V6-inspired original tips. Also, might mention that the mechanic who helped with that (another young guy) a few years back was involved in a trio who put together a 1500 WHP street racing machine. Just a complete nuts "backyard/spare time" project. lol, when I was young my 1966 Mustang running a 13.5 was considered damn fast.
