I'm considering using my Billet Specialties WinLites for my ride around tires this year. I'm not worried about the 17x10 rears but the overall light weight of the front rims concerns me a bit. I'll be using the MT Sportsman tire so I have no concerns w the tire, just the wheel. Do any of you guys use this same wheel(18x5) on the street? And have you had any issues with cracking or bending?
Thanks.

I would be concerned about turning with those skinnies. My Charger, on the street, didn't like any turns at higher speeds with them especially if wet.

I drove my car last year on skinnies all year without issues.
Just not the brand he’s talking about

If it is what you want to do i wouldnt be concerned with it. I drive my drag set up to the track (25 miles). Myself for street driving I would rather have a wider front wheel

The concern isn't about the tire. I already have the Sportsman on a different rim and have driven it a good bit. All this car really does is go to the local track occasionally and to some local cruise ins. I have beefier options if I were to make any sort of road trip. I've managed to own some mismatched stuff at this point and am considering using the Billet Specialties stuff as my local ride around wheels.

The 18x5 is a light wheel. It's built well and the design is such that I don't think I'll have any issues but I'd love to hear from someone that has had actual experience with this wheel on the street.

I have not driven mine with the B/S Win Lites yet on the street. I'm going to limit it to just to and from the track.
Over 1200 lbs. on each front corner and a chuck hole may have you looking for a spare to get home. Maybe step up to a 6-7 in. wide with more load carrying capability.
I have seen 2 of the Welds fail on the street and it beat the car up pretty good.

I put about 500 miles on the 18” Winlites with M/T Sportsman tires under normal around town and freeway miles. No issues. They drive, steer and stop nice. The Winlite is a superior wheel. 0D076FFF-2E7A-4E6C-8797-B6F6F0AB0228.jpeg

Mike,
The Weld Alumastar billet failures on the street is what brought me to ask about the WinLites. The hub design of the WinLite is much better for spreading load so I thought it should live better but thought it best to ask for real world experience.

Marc,
You are the type of responder I was hoping for. Good news or bad, it's always good to learn from other peoples' similar experiences. Thanks for letting me know you've had good luck with this setup.

I have not had a Weld in my hands to look at the design difference. Hopefully all goes well.

The center hub design of the Alumastar has some hard corners and is a lot smaller than the general hub area of the WinLite. It's pretty easy to see the issue. In Welds defense they do state that the Alumastar isn't for street use, whereas Billet Specialties says the WinLite is capable of being used on the street.
I ordered my 17x10 WinLite Beadlocks a little while ago(I was happy to learn that they have them in stock) so in a few days I should have the ride arounds ready to go. :)

The Winlite/ redline and street lite wheels are tested To j2530 spec and SFI! We load rate them to 1250 lbs and send for rigorous testing before selling them as a STREET STRIP option. We have yet to see a failure. We are also releasing a 18x5 that clears 21+ calipers and many new 15” options :) a 18x7 and 20x6 and 20x7 to match all rears As well.

My name is Glenn my father and I are the owners. we currently have 4 hellcats/super stocks and do all fitments in house.

I am currently building a 21 hellrasin wide body to hit the track with you guys this year also.

Reach out with ANY questions !

Hi Glen. Thanks for offering! I have a DragPak rear suspension (4-link) in my Hellcat. I’m using your Comp series double beadlocks with a 4” back space with 315/60-15 M/T’s. I’m thinking about running a “small tire” class that will require going to a 275 radial. Question is…. What width wheel to get the most out of that tire ? There are small tire class cars running as wide as 14” to stretch the tire. I’ve had some people tell me that’s not safe. Others simply say everybody’s doing it and it works. What are your thoughts on that? Also…. Those Comp 7 wheels are the most beautiful wheels out there. I’ve looked at a lot of wheels and nothing compares. I went from your Winlites to those when we stepped up to our current setup. Thanks!

Beautiful Car! I see many people using a 14” wide it’s safe and works. I think the 13” wheel is a little more forgiving with sidewall not being as stretched. 12” is the old standard by todays racers. It’s more of a personal preference and how you the racer feel honestly. I recommend the 13” wide to those on the fence lol.

Thanks for the compliments we love good feedback. Let me know if I can be of any help.
