Anyone seeing their tpms being off? I have two tire gauges which both show 2psi lower than what the on board display will read. Gauges will read 30 and on board will read 32 cold.

Maybe it’s your handheld gage. Those things are not reliable.

Mine are off also. 4 tires at the same pressure on a guage. Any of the 3 I use. The tpms in the car always has at least 1reading off from the others.🤷‍♂️

Mine have always been off...2 psi on 2 and 4psi on one and 6 on another...oem sensors. On my other set of wheels with aftermarket sensors they are close...

I would think analog gauges would be more accurate than digital but maybe it’s the other way around

I have two dial type gages and they both read the same.

I still trust any decent handheld over the TPMS, I use those as indications, and then proceed with my own gauges.

Pressure is correct, position is off.

This is very plausible as well, maybe even likely.

It just annoys me that for gauges that are not only in the premium market position, but also price, you would think they'd be more accurate and repeatable.

You'd think...

:(

This is another good point (that I missed earlier). When I set mine (cold inflation) using what would seem like a repeatable (even if not accurate) gauge to exactly 32psi (1/10th readout), even allowing for settling of the pressure, the TPMS between the tires is not consistent. This was are the root of why I gave up using, or caring, what the TPMS said.

The other thing I forgot to mention (and I love to bring this up when I can, makes me feel "special"). When Michelin visited me, they referenced one of my gauges against their laboratory gauge that they brought with them.

Mine read 1.7psi high, in the opposite direction of the TPMS readings.

I wondered about this as well, it wasn't until I used my $1K gauge for laser pressure that I found out the readings are very accurate...within .5 lb. Gauge does .01 lb certified accuracy.

Lasers are light...

Pressure gauges use use molecular action of gasses bouncing off of a mechanical element to measure force.

:p

(Teasing of course)

;)

Yes they are, but use gases in application, laser version of plasma CNC.

Got me one old gauge I have used for years. Seems to be pretty close and believe me, the one set of numbers selected on the gauge in front of me is the tire pressures during the HPDE sessions.
