A hot day to track the car

So finally feel im in a spot to run the car. Its a hot ass day but not much i can do about that. Living up in the mountains...DA was 4200 today. But just wanted to finally celebrate a little. Finally crossed into the 9s. Got a sub 1.5 60ft. Now just to dial it in.

Where i live theres not many good tracks that prep so thats always an issue for me, but finally got it out to a track that moderately preps.

Too many. But we got there. Im sure Jon is tited of me by now. Lol. But we got there. Im happy. I know shes supposed to be faster, but theres nothing i can do about track prep or DA, both directly effecting my times. Ill send my logs to Jon but im sure its already dialed in on that front. Thanks to all whove helped me along the way. And a huge shout out to my guy Jon for sticking with me through it all and getting us there. Now....lets get to them 8s.

Congrats!! A lot left there I’m sure with more work and better DA! That’s exactly close to what I run. Usually 141-142, but headwind that day. 2800 DA / 98+ degrees, t&t with crap prep

Id say my chiller modifications were well worth it. Right at 5.2 gallon capacity for intercooler. Chilled from 82*F down to 23*F in 82*F ambient temp in about 5mins of idling. Hells yea. Now to test it at the track. 5 gallons of 23*F coolant should keep IATs down down.

This is also with the whipple. The stock IHI blower isnt as efficient as the whipple for cooling the air charge. Hell just look at the intercooler bricks. Lol. But because of this, getting a whipple with an interchiller under 40*F has been a real struggle. IHI stock blower i could get down into the teens all day long but thats simply because it wasnt pulling as much heat out of the airchargw as the whipple.does.

Just make sure to let the coolant come up to temp before shutting it down. Mine gets that cool as well without 5 gallons, and heats up quickly with ac off. If you don’t let it warm up, you’ll get water in your cylinders from condensation dripping off bricks - huge risk of rusting your cylinders.

It’s also not necessary to get it that cool, but can’t see how it hurts (besides the condensation). 50 degrees is more than enough to keep MAT down and not pull any timing

Getting it that cool also condenses e85 out of the breather. Check your catch can after each run.

Whipple is definitely better, but I’m able to get below ambient on my IATs with the IHI. 4.5 whipple has an even better core than the 3.0 and 3.8, which I had.

One other note - keep an eye on your pump seal for coolant seepage when getting that cold either when running or after as the aluminum contracts and expands.

Thanks @1971demon. I like to share from real world experience. I have the bare minimum to get to where I need to be - entire point of racing is to go as fast as you can for as cheap as you can. I don’t just throw the catalog at it based on what shops say because they want my money. I won’t be sharing anymore, wish him the best of luck.
