To desulfate a battery takes a while. You may want to leave the maintainer on there for several weeks, preferably longer.

If you do need a new battery, I've taken a liking to Weize batteries. They're less when buying direct than from Amazon, by the way.
My factory one finally took a crap after 8 years. Have had a Walmart battery in there and the voltage has been better than ever. Don’t start the car for weeks never have it on maintainer. Never had old one on maintainer ever either. Really not needed unless you drive it once a year and live in the arctic like some guys here lol

No, a maintainer and/or desulfation may not be needed, but they do keep batteries healthier and generally make them live longer.

Besides, batteries prefer cold weather over the heat in alligator infested areas. Or heat in dry areas, like Arizona.
Hmm. Wonder if I'm a battery...that identifies as a human?

I used to buy the expensive "good" type battery and they never seemed to last. Being sick of buying a new battery all the time I decided to just get the cheap Wal-Mart battery. For whatever reason the Wal-Mart battery are hands down the best I have found. The are relatively cheap and they really seem to last far longer than any others I have ever tried. I run them in all my Jeeps and they last for years without even being on a battery tender while they sit. Still have the factory battery in the Hellcat (on the tender though since it has not moved in years). When the Hellcat finally needs a battery then off to Wally World I go!
