I'm not sure that this fits under the category of "Build Projects" but since we will be doing a series of Youtube videos with our testing results it may be interesting to follow.

Looking forward to the info, I didn't realize a new intake would fit with mechanical power steering.

I was on CherokeeSRT8 when you guys introduced your turbo Jeep. I ended up rear mounting a couple turbos on mine before selling it shortly after.
Any updates on the WK1?

I wish i would have tried this before I added EPS to my charger. But I do like the feel of the redeye EPS rack compared to my old mechanical system. The EPS is only 2-3lbs heavier anyway.

Want to see if my headers were a total waste of money and agony

You’d think any time you can make the engine breathe better it’s good but

Thanks! Concerning the airbox - Micah made it work. I do think it took some manipulating to get it in there though.

The WK1 is still around and when time permits we will get back to it. we pulled it out of mothballs late last year. It now has a fresh powerplant, a new turbo and enhanced fuel system. It runs and drives but has no turbo piping at this time. We are really excited to get that buggy back on the the road but customers come first.

These cars are so heavy what is another 2-3 pounds?

We are curious as well. I can tell you that with the stock engine we did pull the entire exhaust and Micah fabricated "turn downs". This modification made no WHP difference on the dyno.
We also tested it at the track - we made a pass with the full exhaust, pulled the exhaust and installed the turn downs, then made another pass. No ET improvement - even with the weight reduction!

You’d think any time you can make the engine breathe better it’s good but
We have proven this to not be true - at least from the perspective of removing factory SRT exhaust on a non-supercharged car and replacing with long tube headers. With that being said I am not certain that headers flow better than factory SRT exhaust - so your statement may still be correct.

Thanks!

Now what about safer. I put on a full ported blower, 108mm tb, same pulley, and long tubes at the same time. I’m thinking it probably evened things out. Definitely needed revisions. But the thought process used to be that you’d make the same power with less boost due to the headers, thus safer - or you could pulley down more, make the same boost, but more power? 2” primaries, 3” collectors. Also thought about doing turn downs off the mid pipes at the track to reduce weight. Haven’t been to the track yet with the new setup

It's like you read my mind or anticipated what I was going to ask next - What did it run at the track and what was the ET/MPH improvement?

It was dead consistent with mph and et every time just stabbing the gas, no foot braking (before the changes). So hopefully will see some improvements. Should have it out within the next month or so

I've heard the rumor that allowing better flow and reducing boost is somehow "safer". In my unprofessional opinion I don't think that's s measure of safe or not safe. More air flow is more air flow and the as far as the tuning is concerned it doesn't see boost pressure at all, it sees air flow in mg / charge. More mg = more power.

Mike can enlighten us on this I'm sure :)

You are correct sir! Airflow is the key. Actually how much fuel you can burn efficiently is the determining factor in the power equation. This requires a proportional amount of air. As we have learned with both our street Hellcat and our chassis car the trick is then properly managing the placement of the power to the ground.
