Seems very short sighted to have put those shock towers so close together. They coulda left themselves an "out" and made it much wider, the car is like 6 or something inches wider than a Hellcat already isn't it?

Maybe the AWD required moving the towers inboard.
Just thinking this
Why are they in so far?

Also, thought the Hemi and Hurricane had the same engine mounting spots. I know both engines work in the Wagoneer/GW same with the Ram.
This Charger is getting a Hurricane so they can make that work. How wide is that engine with the intercooler and turbos etc on it?

The Hemi is coming to the US but not this year, they don't have enough time to make engines for the 2026 Ram 1500. They will build Hemi's in Mexico until Dundee can get setup, most likely by next August 2026.

Internal documentation about Hemi production being designated for Ram 1500 (DT) and overtime applied to the plant to get ALOT produced by the time SHAP goes down for summer switch over. UAW sources also indicate they are making 5.7 Ram 1500 mules currently

I was at the dealer other day, no not for car shopping. I saw a new billet Silver Charger, and after looking at for several minutes I still conclude the nose would be radically different if Ice was dropped under hood, the whole Frunk theme would go away. Radically altering its current look out of necessity for radiator & plumbing with fans. I would think the Hemi can fit length wise easer than the I6. 4 slugs per bank on Hemi vs 6 slugs inline Hurricane with cooling system. The nose needs to change for Hurricane I6. At least from the very front of fender forward, the front fascia and sloping hood most definitely would need altering. Guess we are going to find out at some point.
The Hood will change

The Fascia
Just the lower air intake areas Rt Lt & Ctr & the front leading edge at the Hood

The lower center opening more then doubles in size for air flow
The license plate mount is now a Grille opening for I6

I’ve heard the only panel change needed to physically fit a HEMI is a new stamped firewall.

I think you guys well know....
That if they really do come out with a new Charger hemi...
The first will be a 5.7, followed 6mo later with a 6.4...
Next year might have a SC6.2, we hope...
Then another year before a RE....
And another before a Demon...
Then maybe something better...

They do not want to sell you the car of your dreams, they want to sell you the best available, 3 or 4 times!

True or not, I have a threshold of performance that would make me a new buyer...

And it starts somewhere around the ~800hp mark, and not simply a redo of the previous RE, but in someway notably better, whether it be HP or torque or durability or what have you... Something...

Oh, and I don't care that dual-turbos are more efficient... I love my blower... Plain and simple...

Truth be told, back in the day... I mean WAY back in the day, I was totally in love with the various twin-turbo V-8 stuff that some of the high-end tuners were doing...

But then not only did the Hellcat power plant come into existence, but I stopped breastfeeding... :ROFLMAO:

I would think the shock towers are going to be a problem with V design on the Hemi, the width of V design is wide unless radically redesigned it’s probably going to be VERY tight.

I would not rule out something radical from Dodge. They deliberately rotated the slant 6 to fit under the new low hood design of the Valiant way back. Also put the water pump along side of the block to gain the extra inches needed for shorter wheel base. No I am not suggesting this will occur, but exemplifying they are audacious and always have been.

Would it be out of the realm to have 2 types of inner fenderwell with shock towers in different positions. I know it costs to have two style chassis underpinnings. Two separate crash tests conducted. Furd back in the day had all 1,359 of the Boss 429 retrofitted after being built at Furd then sent cross town to Kar Kraft to have relocated Inner fenderwell shock towers moved further out board to get that 429 shoehorned in. Not saying Dodge would try this on a massive scale but knowing the audacity of the Dodge brand, it leaves many possibility’s open in my opinion. Hellcat 2015 sucker punched the performance world without an ounce of warning. Just saying!

The thing people have to remember is the Inline 6 Hurricane is narrow BUT they have the intercooler on the passenger side of the engine and the turbo's on the driver side. So the engine is wider than people think. Look at the pic with the Hurricane in the Drag Pak, it's pretty close to Hemi width. Also note how the cowl and hood is cut on the Drag Pak to make it fit and the same notch on the Charger Daytona cowl.

I have pics of a Charger Sixpack mule engine compartment, I can't share because Dodge would find out which mule I got a pic of but it looks like there is plenty of room between the strut towers for a Hemi to fit. Compared to this Drag Pak Hurricane pic, looks almost like the same amount of space. I think it is mainly a firewall issue from comparing other photos I've seen.

I'm going to call it right now, the engine bay is hideous. Ugly air intake going to passenger side with the airbox sitting beside the frunk in the Daytona pic. Coolant reservoir you see in the Daytona pic is moved in front of the driver side strut tower with an even bigger one attached to it. Driver side has these huge harness connectors and looks like AC lines going over the strut tower. Engine cover looks basic, hopefully just a preproduction one, but there is a thick strut tower bar sandwiched between the engine cover and that notch on the cowl. I guess we'll see if I described the engine bay in a few weeks when the plant opens.

Someone at work had a blacked out charger, with dark windows and in black, it’s a sharp looking car. IMG_7452.jpeg IMG_7451.jpeg

A hemi will fit there.
Them Hurricanes are W I D E with that twin turbo setup
Maybe if they went to a FMIC, they could slim it down.
But didn't they say that Gilles wanted the Hurricane and Hemi to have the same engine mounts? Good thing you change spark plugs on top of the valve cover vs side of the head like a chevy. Headers may be a problem as well

I keep going back and forth on the Charger, I guess I am hopeful that the Charger can be what I would like it to be (a muscle car)... on one hand I look at the design and see a link back to the 68/69 Charger. That's arguably one of the most beautiful car designs to ever hit the street - so thats a pretty good start. But, then I see the 70 Hemi-Cuda transforming into the 74 318 Barracuda - the design and shape are the same. The problem is in the application.
There is more than one aspect that makes a car desirable, the design, the "powerplant", quality, and I will list the last aspect as features, (think of a Cadillac vs a loaded Oldsmobile - the Cadillac commands more money because it's a Cadillac).
The Charger sort of has a desirable design, but the powerplant is more like a 4 cylinder than Hemi, (some might say it has 500ish EV horses, but its not the same as ICE - not even close), the quality is an unknown at this point, but the signs are not looking good, and the features are unknown / lacking from what I am seeing.
The new Charger has large shoes to fill and the start for this design doesn't look good from where I sit...

I will say I agree but if they cram some Hemi's in these things and even just a 5.7 it will make a huge difference!! The quality issues I have heard about all seem to be related to the EV portion of the vehicles!!

The Charger is a sweet car.

Put the right powerplant (cough hellcat cough) to it, maybe update some of the visual cues, and they would have a winner.
