Sorry not you specifically, posts on this thread. As of right now they do not plan on making more than 3000 total. Which means there is not unlimited allocation as you can see from the constraints shown above. If there was we'd have a couple of hundred orders by now, which is what we as a dealership were hoping for. We mass order every make and model we are allowed too and have done so the last 8 years I've been here.

I went to a local Dodge dealer, the day that dodge.com listed the new 2022 Charger jail break model. I asked the hellcat specialist salesman about its availability? He said they had a new Challenger JB in stock. Then he offered to bring it around.

I told him I wanted a Charger. I asked about building the 2022 JB Charger that I wanted. He left for a while and came back saying they couldn't guarantee the finance rate. Plus they wouldn't take a 2022 JB order? In my eyes the slight up cost of the 2022 JB seems great.

Sooo why does the Dodge.com web site let you build your dream car. With no word of its availability? Or how limited the total allotment is?
It seems a little honesty up front would go a long way.


I'm just not real sure, how a shiny $30,000.00 car wash. Helps the cars appearance. (or value) Though a $25,000.00 paint job sure does.

My dad said after the last depression, cash was king. Now with the some dealers ordering last minute 2021 Hellcats. The finance fine print says you must take delivery before January 1. In less than two weeks they will be last years model.

A dealer that wants to maintain a good reputation could have used an apparent rare item as a contest winner. Could be ordered by a person or two who won a great marketing campaign for Christmas. Maybe could not make a greedy extra $30k ON ONE UNIT. Could just charge the old suggested MSRP? What a concept! But, would not have to make multiple postings to attempt to prove they do indeed represent a European firm and is trying to act like one bent on the value of their bottom line.

I received a reply from Koons Dodge, after I requested info on the Challenger Jailbreak.
"As far as the Jailbreak, Every Dodge dealership that is a Power Broker (such as us) will be able to order the Jailbreak. Dodge is only making 3000 of them and every Dodge dealership that is a Power Broker will get allocation for 2. There are no discounts available on the Jailbreak at which we will be doing 30k over MSRP with $5000 non refundable deposit. If you wish to proceed with the Jailbreak, let me know and I can build your request as ordering just opened up."

I was surprised, only 30k over MSRP, from Koons!!! I checked locally and the Dodge dealer would order a Jailbreak, without the exorbitant charges. Also, they wanted our Challenger Hellcat with extremely low miles and offered a really nice trade-in price. We will, in earnest, be talking with our local Dodge dealer.

I thought Koons would be a good deal with 5% under MSRP, I should have read the forum a little closer. I don't understand the difference between Koons and our local Dodge dealer, but I will be checking into this situation. The 30k over MSRP price, from Koons, is a non-starter!

100 or so Power Brokers x 2 cars = 200 cars.

Has my math failed me or is that substantially under the 3,000 units they planned?

They can say its unlimited but in their books probably think 3,000 is the ball park to which people will order.
Dealers love to take any hint of "limited edition" to jack up the price or be royal cunts to customers.


Chevy launched the Z/28 and said anyone can get one. They only planned about 2,000 or so units over 2 years and it took heavy discounts to even move the last few hundred of them. But their head guy kept saying "anyone who wants a Z/28 can get one" He was right, just not that many wanted it.



Same situation here maybe. Planned for 3k units but will make more if it takes off. I just don't see it happening. Still another year + of production and to most people the finality of it all has it set in yet. I think it is just now settling in in the Viper market and that was 4 years ago?

And lets not forget the Durango Hellcat - Tim K built another 1,000 units to meet demand. Still over 200 for sale right now.

1. You’re asking for $30k over MSRP, correct?
2. Of the 163 available for December you have 2, which is more than most dealers. At 150-200 per month, for 2022, you’re at 3000 for the year. So are you estimating 3000 total based on that projection or do you have something in writing that says 3000? If it’s a limited run, as you say that it is, that would certainly help justify the ADM being applied to them (for some people).

Also, for the dealership that had a Jailbreak in stock - that defeats the purpose of a Jailbreak if someone else ordered it… and it isn’t at all what you would want. The draw of the JB is being able to customize it yourself.

Loving the 2019 Redeye that was purchased in the low 80k’s more and more everyday for about a -$12k discount off MSRP. Going to spend another $3k with DC (which is the amount of the refund I am going to get from my unused extended warranty), and that little trick ride will be complete for my lifetime. It celebrated its third birthday this week. It was made just before Christmas 2018. It has two more years of powertrain warranty, and that is good enough for me.

You guys can keep all that stuff that in your opinion should help you retire early. An extra $30k a car plus what you make already. What a joke. Plus nearly a crime, Dodge deliberately has narrowed the regular REWB accessory and interior choices to dog shit, thinking people HAVE to go the jailbreak road for a leather interior, fuck off!

Koons response never seems to deny the 30k upcharge. So let's for a minute assume there really are only 3000 to be built and think back to the Demon. There were dealers ordering and selling them at MSRP. And that was a holy grail car. The JB is certainly not that. There is nothing groundbreaking other than you can now kill the resale value by uglying it up. There are members getting them at MSRP as we speak.
Koons may have begun to burn the bridge here, not sure. No one still has seen any release from Tim K. or Stellantis (ew) about there only being 3000 units, but even if that is true, 30k? That gets a C’mon man for sure.

If this is true I suggest this clearly is a text book example of “How to ruin a loyal customer base, be it new or return customer in one swoop. Damn shame, work all this time to get a following selling a lot of cars only to try and cash in on a few so called allocated. This again if true and appears to be, a text book example of don’t let this happen to Your dealership. Without pleased customers you will look like the the Maytag man waiting for phone to Ring, the email in box to populate, or front door to open. No thanks, I'll keep my '16 and do one of the stage pks if any of the authorized dealers nearby are ones I trust.

Dealers are nothing if not opportunistic, I deal with Dealers on a consistent basis, and they will all offer serious discounts when it's in their best interest and mark up when it's not.

Markups are as indicative of fca/stellanitis/whoever is running the show as the dealer itself. If the models are limited its in the dealers best interest to get as much money as possible.

I can't wait for the market to correct and all these dealers bonking their customers over the head to reap what they sow. Things will get ugly, seems like it's just a cycle.

Thing is the JB is not limited. Although I guess all new Hellcats are technically limited by default due to the shortage of every product ever produced by all of mankind everywhere in the universe currently. Can’t even buy bubblegum without there being some kind of supply issue.
I swear over half of this is pure greed under the guise of shortages. Not talking auto parts but literally everything else, including American made products.
