Locking in discounts

I am told by my local dealers that they cannot lock in existing discounts on ordered cars.
I've read on here - and probably the other site too - that there IS a way to lock them in.
Can anyone that's had personal experience at locking in the power dollars type discounts
clue me in as to why some can and some can't?

Someone else will chime in I'm sure, but I believe there's a box on the order form that says "Protected Order" or something along those lines.

Yes, but a good dealer will honor the rebates either way.
I get what's available at the time of order, or at time of purchase, whichever is the larger rebate.

Not that it has helped me lately, when buying vehicles that has no rebates whatsoever, and other dealers want 5-30K ADM for. Thankfully I still get good pricing.

I received the rebate at the time of order, even though it went down by the delivery date. Also, the factory price on the sticker went up by the time it was delivered and I didn’t have to pay the increase.

I ordered 2021 REWB in January with $6000 rebate and dealer said thats what it would be, unless rebate increased. Rebate was still $6000 when I took delivery in March so it was never an issue.
I never felt the rebate was in jeopardy.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking at ordering a new SS. MSRP in the neighborhood of $92k. What is a reasonable price to pay? The Dodge build site currently shows the $4k discount and I personally have never had much luck getting more than $3k negotiated off a new vehicle. Also, this is the 2nd $90k car I've bought from this dealership. So.. $92k less the total of $7k I'm reasonably sure I can get off is $86k. This seems reasonable to me. What say you all? Real world information please.

That's sort of where I am right now. The discounts aren't where they were when I bought my '21 REWB but they are offering me $74k for my '19 REWB. Right now we're about $12.5k between the two. Seems like an acceptable deal to me.

Right now I have them checking with the factory to get an expected delivery date and some form of confirmation of that date. This is the first I've heard about the 5/31 cutoff. I suppose I'll know more about that soon.

I ordered my super stock yesterday (got a vin today) and I was told they can’t lock in rebates. I’m at least happy because no adm and employee price.

No delivery date yet but he did say sold cars are being built first. They also told me anywhere from 3-6 months. We shall see!

Got mine in 3mo to the day. I was surprised but glad it made it. Too bad you couldn't get the rebates locked in (Sucks). I was lucky enough to get the 6k at the time I ordered. Be sure to run that vin and make sure the order got placed correctly. They missed the performance spoiler on my order.

I ordered through Martin Dodge - The "Speedy Special." The MSRP was 88.5k, selling price 81.7k for an OTD (tax, doc fee, etc.) price of 85k. Was told I'd get the rebates at the time of delivery, which looks like 2k right now and it was 6k when I ordered in April. Would have been nice to "lock in" the 6k in April. But I'm still happy.
