Had my best run so far.

52AE8AAA-05BD-4923-BF3A-27DC9389A35D.jpeg

Dialed in at 10.95. Got beat at the tree. Had a bad experience. Got to the tree staged at first light, then it went out. Here I am doing the memphis shuffle trying to get a good tree and now the guy has two lights and mine went out. So staged finally but couldnt get on it fast enough. Was very disappointed. Video incomming. But hey its something to work on.

Video to come.

Congrats on getting in the 10’s! Need more info? Is it pure stock except for tires? What kind of DA was it. Judging from the other guy’s run with the same mph as you, it looks like you can get down in the 10.7’s with a better 60’. That’s decent mph for this weather.

The humidity is whats killing the time. 8215 was my number. Running skinnies up front, et street r in the rear. Stock motor, no tune. Trans: Track, paddles: off, traction: sport, suspension:street. It was a fun night. I ran that 10.9 against my friends widebody RE.

Added some production value to this video, maybe I'll become a famous YouTube car personality!

I didn't see anything wrong with the tree, you got beat on RT. RT is paramount.

I staged at the first light and then it went out. It threw me off cause I was coming up on the RPMs at that time and I had to back off. When I got back up on the first light again I lost my cool and couldn't get my "memphis shuffle" under control. Definitely got tree'd and that's what caused it.

In the vid. your staging lights never went out once you staged, the other car staging lights went out when he left, so that might have thrown you off ?

Am I hallucinating? At 2:44 my staging light was on, at 2:47 it went off and I got confused as hell. 2:53 I go a little further and it turns back on.

OK, I see that now, but after you prestaged then staged they never went off, but I see what your saying. It blinked a couple of times, your tire must have been right on the edge, you still had to prestage it though & then stage, good job for first time out.

I'm going to just keep one thread continually going and just update it as I go to events. Today was Cecil County Dragway for some test and tune. Today's purpose was not to put a big E/T or trap at a huge MPH it was to learn how to launch the car as that is what I am struggling with the most. Unlike my Scat Pack I try to launch at 2k RPM with this thing power braking and always push through the brakes (I suck at the Memphis shuffle), after about the second run today I was heated to say the least. Time to adapt and overcome. Today I wanted to learn how to launch the car so I decided to spend some time with Launch Control (LC) as an alternative. I know a dreaded subject but today I did quite well with it and launched hard as hell at 2k RPM and had a great time, cutting good trees, and people were coming up to me after telling me my car sounded amazing on the line before launching. I'm going to keep an excel file of the times and log them after each event. I now have the dreaded task of backfilling and getting some sorts of metrics going. Here are today's entries.

1595717551273.png

I am upgrading to the PowerStop pads as I think the stock ones are shit and I am also not ruling out that my converter might be on the fritz. Of note, the .585 R/T was because I got double bulbed by another test and tune driver and panicked and forgot that I don't need to worry and should just focus on myself. I got up to 2k, pushed through and then tried to get up on it but by then it was green already. It was at that point and after multiple F bombs I decided to spend the rest of the afternoon using LC. If I can keep my trees to sub .04, I'm ahead of the game. When the launch control is working, it's a nice treat for bracket racing and that's what I want to focus on. The technique and key to success for using LC is keeping in mind the 5 second timeout on the system. Only after both yellow bulbs on the second stage are lit do I mash the pedal to get it to come up (most trees are autostart). I started with 1500 on the .011 R/T, moved to 1750 on the .028 R/T and then moved to 2k on the .037 tree. Right now I'm getting the video into editing so stay tuned. I cooked my tablet (Race Render data) and go-pro in the heat. :(

Can you tell if you’re spinning. Seems like a lot of guys with good times come off the line lower than 2K but it’s all good if you’re not spinning.

Not spinning but drag radial is moving on wheel after each pass. Today's massacre.

IMG_5662.JPG

IMG_5663.JPG After this season I am going to investigate what I can do to the bead of the wheel to see if it can keep it from moving or invest in new wheels with bead locks.

Some will just score the inside wheel bead and mount not them dry or spray some hi-tack.

Today's best 60' was 1.634. All time since I've started racing here 1.622. I run 20 PSI and usually don't have to mess with it during the day.

Nice R/T's, those will win at bracket racing, hard to do the LC when at the line & the tree starts coming down but if you can do it, it may help ?

I was asking Chuck what’s his best or typical 60’. Looks like he got a 1.54 based on his recent PB post. That increase in the 60’ would get you down comfortably in the 10.9’s or 10.8’s.
